Our Mission

Our goals

01

Provide Tangible Support

We aim to offer direct assistance to caregivers facing financial strain, whether through small grants, travel stipends, or gift cards for daily essentials. Even a little relief can make a big difference.

02

Create Opportunities for Rest

Burnout is real—and dangerous. We want to create moments of pause through respite initiatives like meal deliveries, self-care days, and caregiver retreats. Because when caregivers are cared for, families thrive.

03

Build a Compassionate Community

No one should feel alone in this journey. We’re working to cultivate a network of support through storytelling, peer connection, and partnerships with hospitals and organizations who share our vision.

How it all started

The Hummingbird Foundation was created by Katie Proberts after her daughter received a rare disease diagnosis that reshaped their daily life. Surrounded by an incredible medical team and resources focused on her daughter’s care, Katie recognized an opportunity: to build something that centered the caregiver’s experience alongside the child’s journey.

The Hummingbird Foundation exists to complement the essential work being done for children by offering care to the people who care for them. Through moments of relief, emotional support, and practical assistance, we aim to nurture the well-being of caregivers—because their strength and stability are vital to the whole family’s path forward.
